Course description
What's on the road
Start and finish are by the Łuczniczka Arena on Toruńska Street. The first kilometre is flat, to a turnaround on Toruńska, then back past the arena to the Toruńskie roundabout and right, straight up the escarpment: 6% uphill, from 41 to 56 m above sea level. At the top, John Paul II Avenue runs as a dual carriageway through Bydgoszcz Forest without a single bend for 7.2 km. The turnaround is at the Stryszek junction, and the way back follows the same road: after the junction, a 6% descent to the Toruńskie roundabout, left, and the finish.
What counts is geometry and physics: both turnarounds, the roundabout and every percent of climbing are where they are on the real road, and the gradient goes to your trainer over FTMS. Speed is calculated from power and the weight of rider and bike, so on the escarpment watts per kilogram count, and on the long straight through the forest, power and your position on the bike.
